Portal to the Future

2020 was a tough time for imaginations. Living in profound uncertainty during a pandemic caused many of us to lose the ability to dream about the future in the same hopeful and tangible way as we could in the “beforetimes”. Future of Futures was a creative civic design project that engaged cities to co-create, listen, and shape how people interact in downtowns using public art, civic engagement, and data and technology. We did not believe we should simply return to cities as they were. It was our collective opportunity to reimagine new and better ways of living and working together. Portal to the Future was our “welcome to the future” mat, an interactive way to welcome downtown works into thier colaborative works spaces and imagine how they wanted to be together in space.
